Tinuy-an Falls, Surigao del Sur

I’m really not a fan of waterfalls, but among the few that I’ve been to, I really liked Tinuy-an Falls in in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

As suggested by our habal-habal driver, we were in Tinuy-an around 730 or 8am, which was a good idea if you want to avoid the crowds and if you like early morning swims.

Tinuy-an looked like a white water curtain that flowed in three levels. One of their trusty guides will accompany you as you climb up the second and third levels. Don’t worry, they’ve put in sturdy metal stairs and pathway to help you make your way safely to the top and back down.

Photo grabbed from my friend’s FB (thanks Rocio! :)). I was scared to whip out my phone and take pictures of the trek going up the waterfall.

My friend and I also rode the bamboo raft, which took us right under the waterfall. You could also jump off and swim in the clear, cool water.

I love the fact that they were able to keep the area really clean and safe for visitors, which easily makes Tinuy-an my favorite for this trip to Surigao. 🙂

How to get there:

For this trip, we rented a habal-habal for the day to take us to Tinuy-an in the morning and the Enchanted River in the afternoon (will write about our Enchanted River experience in another post). From our hotel in Hinatuan, the ride took about an hour, one way.

We saw other visitors, though, who were in private vehicles or rented vans.

How much does it cost:

We only paid the entrance fee of P50 per head, plus P150 for the bamboo raft. We didn’t feel the need to rent a cottage because there were only two of us and we were only staying there for a couple of hours.
